I’ll be meeting with my group this Thursday. Most of our time will be devoted to looking for authors and legitimate sources. danah boyd at the Technology Forum a few weeks ago and I hope to contact her to use as a source. I hope she’ll also point me in the direction of others/other sources that may be helpful to this project.

That is an amazing idea. I think we should contact some of the authors we have been talking about in class and see what their input is.
I’m generally all for that, but do your homework first, or things will go badly. Ms. boyd posts a number of her academic writings on her website–read those before deciding whether you need to talk to her directly. You may find that she’s already said it better in her written work.
In other words, don’t contact people for the sake of contacting people. References to the literature are almost always better than citations to “personal correspondence.”
